Dina Meyer was born in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, but moved to Dix Hills, Long Island in the last year in junior high school. She has two siblings, one of whom is older, named Gregory as well as a younger sibling called Evan. From the age of nine until 16, she began working in the industry of entertainment via modelling. She started her acting training in The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, where she studied Sanford Meisner's acting techniques, in conjunction with Ron Stetson, for about three years. Sandra Bullock and Michael Douglas were among the other actors who received such training. The first film she appeared in was Beverly Hills 90210 which forced her to make the move from Beverly Hills to Los Angeles. The role was as the leading lady in Johnny Mnemonic in which she did almost every stunt herself, and established herself as a talented actress. She was also represented by Matt LeBlanc, so through her talent agent she managed to land a regular role on Friends.
